BOARD MEETING

January 12, 2008

 

        A Board Meeting of the Iowa State Trapshooting Association was called to order by President Jon Peterson at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2008, in a meeting room at the First State Bank, Colfax, Iowa.

        Present were: President Jon Peterson, Zone Directors, Dan Wood, Rick Kalsow, Don Wickliff and Barrie Swinbank; Alternate Directors Steve Manary, Kevin Hartwig, Ronald Munkel and Jim Cole; ATA Delegate Tom Dentel; Alternate ATA Delegate Pat Lyman; and Secretary/Treasurer Debra Oelmann.

        The minutes of the September 15, 2007, Annual Board Meeting were read. Don Wickliff moved, Barrie Swinbank seconded, the minutes be placed on file. The 2007 financial report was then reviewed.

        Jon stated that the state team rings will be part of our program for 2008. A group of Iowa shooters, who wish to remain anonymous, will fund the rings. A discussion on the state team requirements of states around us was then held. After evaluating the pros and cons regarding the state team requirements, Don Wickliff moved to lower the men’s requirements to 2,500 singles, 2,000 handicap and 1,500 doubles with no requirement to shoot any targets in Iowa, seconded by Barrie Swinbank, motion carried 4-0. All other state team special categories will remain the same, except for removing the requirement to shoot one-half the targets in Iowa.

        The ISTA will be hosting the SCTP High School Shoot on Saturday, May 17, 2008.

        The 2008 ISTA daily fees at registered shoots and the annual membership fees were discussed. Dan Wood moved that we raise the daily fees from $1.50 to $2.00 per shooter effective immediately and to raise the annual membership fees from $7.00 to $10.00 beginning November 1, 2008, seconded by Rick Kalsow, motion carried 3-1.

        Target fees for the 2008 state shoot were then discussed. Dan Wood moved to raise our target fees for the 2008 state shoot to $29.00 per 100 targets. One dollar ($1.00) of the increase will be used only for maintenance on the grounds, seconded by Barrie Swinbank, motion carried 4-0.

        Jon stated to the group that we are looking to mine the lead after the state shoot this year. Camping fees for 2008 will remain at $125.00. The Holiday Inn and Days Inn will be the host hotel for the 2008 state shoot. There will be 76 rooms held for shooters until July 1, 2008.

        Dan Wood moved that the ISTA pay for Alternate Directors rooms or camping during the 2008 state shoot, seconded by Don Wickliff, motion carried 4-0.

        A motion was made by Barrie Swinbank that the meeting adjourn, seconded by Dan Wood. Meeting adjourned at 1:40 p.m.
